The Jealous Sound, Source Victoria and Dust Jacket
The Jealous Sound formed in 2000 after the dissolution of several popular indie rock and emo bands that included Knapsack, Jawbox, Sunday's Best and Neither Trumpets Nor Drums. The band put out a self-titled EP later that year but it was their incredible full-length debut Kill Them with Kindness that put the band on the indie rock map.
Unfortunately by 2005 rumors began to spread of the band's demise due to vocalist and guitarist Blair Shehan leaving the band, which were later confirmed when a posthumous EP entitled Got Friends was released in 2008. However, after that several year hiatus The Jealous Sound returned to the fold in 2009 and supported Sunny Day Real Estate on its reunion tour October of that year. The Jealous Sound will be releasing a new album entitled A Gentle Reminder in January 2012.
Source Victoria is fresh off the release of its phenomenal November 2011 CD Slow Luck that has received tons of positive reviews in local newspapers and blogs. The band's style of indie rock and dream pop will be a perfect opener for the festivities this evening.
Dust Jacket opens the festivities this evening with its brand of indie pop.

Twin Sister
Twin Sister create the kind of buzzy hypnotic pop you've been dreaming about since Galaxie 500 fizzled, cut with Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac thump, and a shot of Lynchian weirdness for good measure. They're slack yet focused, a spark in the dark distance on a desert highway where speed is relative.
With Ava Luna. With the release of their critically lauded "Services EP" in early 2010 and a near-constant stream of shows and short tours over the successive months, NYC natives Ava Luna have built a reputation for noisy, manic basement soul music in the form of stark, earthy synth-driven beats coupled with tight, prismatic vocal harmonies.
Locals ROAR open the show. 16+ Tickets available at Stinkweeds. -

Eric Johnson
Johnson’s eminence as a musical artist goes well beyond just his stunning guitar mastery. His keen compositional sense and lyrical playing create instrumentals that speak to listeners and convey thoughts, emotions and imagery, and Up Close also spotlights his singing and sure way with words. “It really boils down to the music and the song at the end of the day,” he explains. “If it doesn’t have that it gets boring for me.” On his new release, “I wanted to bare myself a little further and show myself more,” says Johnson. “As you evolve as a person and artist, you reach forks in the road where you look at what it is you really want in life and to bring out in yourself and thereby affect other people. What’s most important to me is to grow as a person, and because of that, I want my music to also grow and have more of a profound meaning and impact.” And Up Close finds Eric Johnson continuing to expand his artistry with compelling and enriching results.

Edwin McCain Trio
Taking the stage for what’s easily the 100th time in almost as many days, Edwin McCain casually joins his band as they start off another set that’s impossibly tight and laid back at the same time. By the time his vocals kick in, it’s clear that this is no ordinary troubadour on the club circuit. This is Edwin McCain, the voice that is romance incarnate, has launched a thousand marriages and stirred up Southern soul for over 20 years. For the guy who always dreamed of a life on the road, Edwin’s massive pop hits “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More” were like pulling into glamorous, exciting towns along his never-ending tour.

THE ADOLESCENTS and YOUTH BRIGADE
Great night of some of the best old school Punk Rock! A great night for sure!
THE ADOLESCENTS
THE ADOLESCENTS are an American punk band formed in 1980 in Fullerton, California. It is a punk supergroup, made up of early members of Agent Orange and Social Distortion. They are often credited as one of the leading bands of the 1980s hardcore punk scene.
YOUTH BRIGADE
YOUTH BRIGADE was formed at the end of summer 1980 in Los Angeles, amid the explosion of the punk scene in Southern California by brothers Shawn, Mark, and Adam Stern. The brothers Stern have established YOUTH BRIGADE as one of the most powerful, independent groups in North America over the course of their 25 odd years of existence. The basic philosophy of the band is that "youth" is an attitude, not an age and that every generation has the responsibility to change what they feel is wrong in the world. Unfortunately, it seems that many people either forget or grow weary of this responsibility as they get older in years, so the band feels it is really important that every new generation realize this responsibility and act upon it. It is with these ideals in mind that the band was started, and that eldest brothers Shawn and Mark formed the Better Youth Organization in 1982. The BYO is dedicated to promoting alternative music, art and other creative endeavors in a completely independent manner. They started off promoting shows, (they ran the infamous Godzilla's nightclub), started BYO Records in 1982, (which has released over 100 records to date and become one of the strongest and most respected indie labels in the world) set up tours for many bands, (including the first BYO tour which was done in a big school bus and documented on 60 hours of video tape to become the movie, "Another State of Mind"), as well as many other projects too numerous to mention.

Handsome Furs
Sub Pop Recording artists Handsome Furs began as an idea in the winter of 2005, and currently consists of Montreal residents Dan Boeckner and Alexei Perry. Boeckner also sings and plays guitar in Wolf Parade and before that did much the same in Atlas Strategic, while Perry maintains a career as a writer. Dark and minimal while noisy and earnest, the fabric of their record together was just as informed by late nights as it was by Scandinavian black metal. Truly, the point of creating Handsome Furs was to be as sparse and repetitive as possible with the help of little more than vocals, guitars, and a new drum machine.

Sticky Fingers presents:Melted Cassettes
Melted Cassettes is David Turner, Mike Warden and associated entities. You might be familiar with their remixes and production work from their alias moniker Ghouliez. Drawing comparisons to Aphex Twin, Skinny Puppy or something you'd hear in a futuristic club on another planet, Melted Cassettes music roams outside of categorical confines. In 2008-2010 the band played extensively in Arizona and other states nearby and started recording the initial songs for their full length record "The Real Sounds From Hell Recordings."Shortly after the band took a several month hiatus reemerging with a strong paranormal influence based on events they experienced during that time. An extensive tour of the U.S. is planned for 2012 and their album. 21+

Cass Mccombs / Frank Fairfield
Cass McCombs is no run of the mill singer/songwriter. Imagine the quirky pop of Robyn Hitchcock crossed with the swoonsome elegance of Rufus Wainwright and laced with the British melancholia of Morrissey, but then drench it all in cavernous cathedral reverb a la Neko Case or My Morning Jacket. Sound good to you? He's sure got quite a knack for crafting seemingly straightforward songs that your ears will like, but he's got a few tricks up his sleeve to boot.
California-based fiddle, guitar, and banjo player, and ardent 78 collector Frank Fairfield has made his living as a musician, often found playing on the streets of Los Angeles. Handpicked by Fleet Foxes to open their U.S. tour last year, Frank released a 7" on Tompkins Square and recorded his self-titled debut album. His 7" won over tough critics and purists like Grammy winning producer Chris King (Charley Patton, People Take Warning box set), Phil Alexander (Mojo) and Greil Marcus, to name a few. -

Wheeler Brothers
Formed in Austin, WHEELER BROTHERS have emerged as one of the most exciting bands breaking out of Texas. The five-piece act composed of Austin natives combines the gutsy indie vibe of the modern central Texas music scene with the longing strains of time-honored Texas folk. Brothers Nolan, Tyler and Patrick Wheeler met Danny Matthews at LSU where they spent their afternoons picking guitars and swapping stories in the bar rooms of Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Once back in Austin, the group rounded out their sound with the addition of a lifelong friend, guitarist A.J. Molyneaux. Each member brings his own musical direction and ideas to the group, and through precise vocal harmonies and a unique cast of instruments. Wheeler Brothers have created a sound that has put their name in the forefront of the Austin music scene.

The Wailers
The history of the band during Marley’s lifetime is well known. Just to recap, their music has sold in excess of 250 million albums worldwide. In England alone, they’ve notched up over twenty chart hits, including seven Top 10 entries. This was no accident. Apart from Marley, the Wailers have performed with international acts such as Sting, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, as well as reggae legends Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer and Burning Spear. Their most recent collaborators include Kenny Chesney, Eve, Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. They’ve also completed innumerable tours over the years, playing to an estimated 24 million people across the globe, including groundbreaking performances in Africa and the Far East. The anchor of the band is Aston “Family Man” Barrett, who in addition to being Marley’s most trusted lieutenant, played on countless other classic reggae hits throughout the seventies. The authenticity he brings to the Wailers’ sound is indisputable and yet today’s line-up combines old school know-how with lead vocals from one of Jamaica’s most exciting new singers.

What Laura Says
What Laura Says Thinks and Feels was the original tongue-in-cheek moniker created in 2003 by founding band members James Mulhern and Danny Godbold. The acoustic duo played for years at coffee houses and house parties in the Phoenix area until 2006, when they joined forces with the accredited rhythm section of Mitch Freedom and Greg Muller, as well as like-minded multi-instrumentalist Jacob Woolsey.
This combining of friends and forces resulted in a full five-piece American band in the truest sense. What Laura Says' layered song writing and instrumentation melds together the sounds of psychedelia, pop, blues, Americana, and indie rock delivering a fresh sonic experience both vintage and contemporary in tone.
The band has toured nationally with Annuals, Dear and The Headlights and Jessica Lea Mayfield playing the stages of The Bowery Ballroom (NYC), The Orange Peel (Asheville), The Parrish (Austin), The Troubador (LA), The Doug Fir Lounge (Portland) - and is a familiar friend in Austin at SXSW Music Conference. They have also shared the stage with Dr. Dog, My Morning Jacket, Lou Reed, Yo La Tengo, MGMT, Yeasayer, Delta Spirit. - The Sparrows @ The Duce Jan. 06
